Blinis – Buckwheat Pancakes
Ingredients
- 3 ½ oz Simply Natural Organic Hulled Buckwheat grain, white or brown (see Tip)
- 7 oz whole milk
- 1 tsp dried yeast
- ¼ tsp Simply Natural Organic Cane Sugar
- 2 oz Simply Natural Organic All Purpose Flour
- 1 large Antibiotic Free Eggs (Omega 3)
- ½ tsp Simply Natural Himalayan Rock Salt
- 1 pinch ground Simply Natural Organic Black Pepper
- 1 oz frying oil
Methods
- Grind the buckwheats.Transfer to a bowl and set aside.
- Place milk, yeast and sugar into mixing bowl and heat it for 1 minute 30 seconds.
- Add reserved ground buckwheat, flour, egg, salt and pepper and mix well.
- Place dough into a large bowl, cover with a kitchen towel and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size (approx. 1 hour).
- Preheat oven to warming function or lowest oven temperature. Place a baking sheet lined with parchment into oven.
- Heat a non-stick frying pan on medium heat and pour in a little frying oil. Spoon in dough, 1 tbsp at a time, to make 2.5 in. blinis, fry blinis on both sides until brown (approx. 1 min.). Transfer finished blinis onto baking sheet in oven to keep warm. Serve immediately after frying all blinis.
