Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Also known as Global Goals, The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a universally adopted framework from the United Nations (UN) mapped out in 2015 for Sustainable Development.Adopted by all United Nations Member States since 2015, this is a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy and and prosperity by 2030.The framework provides the blueprint to address the global challenges we face, such as those related to poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, peace and justice. The set of all 17 Goals interconnect and recognise that sustainable development has to be integrated in social, economic and environmental contexts to achieve balance. In our united march towards a better and more sustainable future for all, the pledge is to Leave No One Behind, as the SDGs commit to bring to the world life-changing zeros, such as zero poverty, zero hunger etc. This universal call requires the creativity, knowhow, technology and financial support from all ends of society.
Organic Agriculture is Part of the Solution
Choices on food production and consumption directly impacts our environment and society.
To support The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) , first support organic farming. Organic farming works at increasing positive impact and reducing negative impact to our environment.Positive impact to the environment, society and greater human good can be attainable by creating a sustainable food production system, by conserving water, by letting more people have access to nutritious organic food. Moreover, organic farmers steer clear of harmful agro-chemicals that will impact health negatively and work as much as possible in harmony with nature. Organic farming also ensures a safer and healthier working environment for farmers, reduces plastic waste generation, and combats a decline in biodiversity due to intensive farming.
Conscious work on the farmers’ end is part of the solution and contributes positively to SGDs.The SDGs Campaign, spearheaded by Dutch organic specialist Eosta counts many organisations from all around the world as its members, including: The International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM), Organic Sweden, The Finnish Organic Food Association Pro Luomu, Soil Association (UK), Organic Denmark, Bio Austria, Bioforum Vlaanderen and Wallonië, Irish Organic Board, Bionext (The Netherlands), Assobio (Italy), Ecovia (Spain) Oikos (Norway).Numerous organisations in the United States of America, Canada and Japan also support this campaign. All have come together with the common goal of sharing how organic can be part of the solution for a more sustainable future across the global organic sector. In 2019, ZENXIN was formally invited to be part of the launch of this campaign.
