It’s March and It’s Hot and Windy!

For the past 22 years, we have been growing organic vegetables in Johor and Cameron Highland. We have observed a phenomenon that occurs year after year which we call “the new year wind”.

Normally, when the wind begins to change direction before or after Chinese New Year, the climate becomes dry and windy. This marks the best season to grow vegetables in Malaysia and Singapore regions. Organic vegetables thrive in the dry season, dancing in the wind and growing rapidly. Expect to see more promotions of our organic harvest in the stores you visit.

I enjoyed doing a live broadcast on ZENXIN Facebook on 6th March with our Product Manager Tongmin who is also a nutritionist. Our team had me share about vegetable juicing I normally do at home once a month or as needed using a cold-press juicer. Personally, I feel the detox effects after consuming freshly cold-pressed organic juice, experiencing improved bowel movements, relaxation and a lighter feeling. After the live session, we received more questions about juicing tips.

I recently finished reading “The Glucose Goddess Method” by Jessie Inchauspe. The book emphasizes using more low-glucose vegetables for juicing instead of sweet fruits to avoid glucose spikes associated with undesirable conditions like chronic fatigue, constant hunger, brain fog, etc.

Hence, my rule of thumb when selecting juicing ingredients is to include at least 80% vegetables, use lemon and ginger to cover some greenish taste of vegetables and incorporate greens in the juice (my favorite is cucumber and our ZENXIN organic sweet choy sum). If you are looking for green juice recipes, try these – they are absolutely nourishing and great tasting.

I normally take out the cold-pressed juice I store in the fridge and let it warm up to room temperature for 10 minutes before consuming it. Drinking it too cold can lower my body temperature, which is not ideal for me. Since the cold-pressed juice is not overly sweet or acidic, I find it suitable to drink on an empty stomach. Additionally, I use our Peruvian ginger in the juice, which helps warm the stomach. I hope sharing my personal experiences with juicing helps you improve your own juicing practices.

Our team has been busy since returning from Chinese New Year. ZENXIN Organic Farm has welcomed the most visitors since COVID. You are welcome to join our organic farm activities which now involve more hands-on activities than before. We have also established our CAMP 5 in the farm where you can experience farming activities such as seedling planting, spreading fertilizers, machine plowing and harvesting even on rainy days!

Our retail team has planned more healthy food sampling sessions in our stores, so be sure to check them out and inquire about our Simply Natural Food range if you are interested, especially our super vitamin C booster Organic Sea Buckthorn Elixir and antioxidants hero Haskap Berries Elixir.

Meanwhile, our product team is busy preparing the launch of the first certified organic fiber drinks in Malaysia without any laxative. Feel free to show this newsletter to our colleagues and request samples!

I hope you enjoy reading this newsletter so far as I have been practicing to write more after reading Atomic Habits. Remember to stay hydrated in the hot summer!
